BREAKING NEWS | U.S. Route 224 at Market Street in Boardman reopened

BOARDMAN — Dominion East Ohio Gas crews are still on the scene repairing a gas leak at U.S. Route 224 west of Market Street, but utility company officials told township police, handling traffic detours, and firefighters that Route 224 was safe to reopen. The road runs east and west.

Township authorities said a private contractor was doing work near the McDonald's restaurant property at the intersection and inadvertently hit a gas main line, causing the leak.

The intersection was closed for a few hours and traffic detoured from the area when the leak was discovered.
