Fugitive arrested
Youngstown
FBI Violent Crime Task Force arrested a fugitive Tuesday wanted for felonious assault, according to a police report.
Deon Sanders, 19, who last listed an address on Chalmers Avenue, was hiding out at 71 E. Judson Ave when task-force officials surrounded the home after receiving a tip on Sanders’ location. Several people left the house, including 19-year-old Felicia Ward, who lived there, and told officials Sanders had escaped out the back.
Task-force officials, however, said they saw Sanders attempt to leave out a side window but failed. They told Sanders to leave the house. When he did not, a police dog was called to the scene. Sanders then surrendered.
Youngstown Municipal Court issued a warrant for Sanders on July 27 and became the task force’s Fugitive of the Week.
Police took him to Youngstown Police Department Detective Division for more questioning. Police arrested Ward for obstructing justice and took her to Mahoning County jail.
