Two men arraigned in melee

YOUNGSTOWN
Two men arrested during the melee that led to gunfire and the death of a teenage boy have been arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court.
Braylen Collins, 17, of West Glenaven, was killed in an exchange of gunfire in the area of West Evergreen and Summer Street. Police found Collins lying on the living room floor of a Summer Street home. He had been shot in the chest.
Collins was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center where he was pronounced dead.
Capt. Rod Foley, Youngstown police, said detectives are progressing in the case and are now waiting for a ruling from the coroner’s office.
Police did make two arrests at the time of the shooting, but not for the actual murder.
Delord Green was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and discharging a firearm within city limits. Green appeared for arraignment Monday morning in Youngstown Municipal Court and was issued a $100,000 bond. He is due back in court Aug. 8.
Jesse Harden, 20, of Willis Avenue, was arrested and charged with misconduct at an emergency. He was placed on electronically monitored house arrest and is due back in court Aug. 16.
Both Green and Harden have had previous involvement with law enforcement.
Green had been implicated in and arrested for a series of car thefts and break-ins at a car dealership in the 1800 block of Glenwood Avenue. Reports show break-ins and thefts from the lot on several different occasions in February.
Police attempted to stop a GMC truck stolen from the dealership while Green and two other men were inside the vehicle. Green attempted to run, but was chased down and taken into custody by police.
According to police, Green told officers “I had a buyer for that truck, I should have sold that [truck] yesterday,” while being transported to the county jail. He also reportedly told officers “I gotta make my money some kind of way.”
Reports say Green in 2010 was charged with carrying concealed weapons when police found him sitting on a pistol-grip rifle near an abandoned building on Glenwood Avenue. He was also reported to have thrown a rock through the car window of a South Side store owner who threw him out of his business in 2009.
Green, along with several other male juveniles, was also implicated in a 2009 incident where the purse was snatched from the shoulder of a 53-year-old woman and she was knocked to the ground. He was 16 years old at the time.
Harden has faced past charges for public indecency and resisting arrest in March when officers found him urinating on the side of a South Side gas station and he refused to submit to an arrest. He was also arrested for breaking and entering in 2007 when he was 16 years old.
