Western Mahoning Kiwanis celebrates 60th anniversary

Representatives from four area Kiwanis clubs attended when the Kiwanis Club of Western Mahoning County celebrated its 60th anniversary July 13 at A La Cart.
Members from Austintown, Boardman, Eastside and Youngstown (downtown) clubs were on hand, along with Olivia Roy, lieutenant governor of the Key Club. Chuck Smith performed magic to entertain the group that evening.
Legion of Honor members were recognized. Those honored for 35 years of membership were Joseph Lane, Daniel Moss and Wally Sinn; for 40-plus years, Bob Little and Bob Thomas; and for 50 years, the Rev. Richard Fruit.
The WMCKC members are collecting new socks for Hannah’s Socks, a nonprofit organization that gives clothing essentials (mostly socks) to the needy. More information is available on the website, www.hannahssocks.org.
All Kiwanis clubs in the Ohio District are asked to collect new socks and take then to the Ohio District Convention, Aug. 12 through 14 in Toledo. The goal is to collect 50,000 pairs of socks.
The WMCKC includes the areas of Berlin Center, Canfield, Ellsworth, Lake Milton and North Jackson. Meetings are at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at A La Cart, 429 Lisbon St. For more information call Barb Smith at 330-502-1460.
