Police have identified the victim in one shooting from Friday, but the victim does not have much information to assist police in the investigation.

According to police reports, Demetrius Lockett, 25, of East Florida Avenue, arrived at St. Elizabeth Health Center just before 3 p.m. Friday with a gunshot wound.

Shortly before Lockett arrived at the hospital, officers were called to the area of Pasadena Avenue and Gibson Avenue for another shooting described as a rolling gunbattle between two cars.

Witnesses in the Pasadena shooting initially said one of the cars involved rolled into a nearby field. A man jumped from one of the cars and ran off limping, but it was unclear if he had been shot.

Police interviewed Lockett while waiting on an emergency-room trauma team to work on his wounds, but details provided by Lockett about the shooting were sketchy.

Lockett told police he pulled the 1998 Ford Contour he was driving over in an unfamiliar location because he was having car trouble. He could not remember the location. He said two men standing in the area began walking over to him as he got out of his car and lifted the hood.

Lockett told police one of the men asked for a cigarette, and as he reached into his pocket, the other man shot him numerous times. He told police only that both men were tall, light complectioned and about 25 years old.

Lockett said both men fled the area after the shooting, but he could not say if they drove away or ran off. Lockett then drove himself to the hospital in his car.

Lockett could not tell police why anyone would want to shoot him. The Ford was towed and is being held by Youngstown police.

Police still have not identified the 17-year-old boy killed in another shooting on the South Side mere minutes before the Pasadena Avenue shooting.

Police were called to the corner of Evergreen Avenue and Summer Street shortly after 2 p.m. for a shooting between two factions.

Witnesses at the Summer Street shooting said someone came from behind a set of bushes in the area of Summer and Evergreen and engaged in a shootout with a group of young men who were at a house in the 1900 block of Summer.

Capt. Rod Foley, Youngstown police, said the investigation is early, but police have potential suspects in the shooting.
