ABERDEEN, Md.
Cody Elliott’s eighth-inning sacrifice fly scored Todd Hankins for the only run in the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ 1-0 victory Sunday over Aberdeen.
The victory keeps the Scrappers (25-18) in first place in the Pinckney Division of the New York-Penn League.
Trailing the Scrappers are the Auburn Doubledays (a 6-1 winner over Tri-City) and the Jamestown Jammers (11-5 losers to Staten Island).
Hankins led off the eighth inning of the scoreless game with a single. John Barr’s sacrifice bunt advanced Hankins to second and he stayed at third base when Aaron Siliga doubled.
Cody Allen (3-1) earned the victory when he relieved starter Danny Jimenez in the seventh inning.
Jimenez scattered six hits before being lifted with two outs in the seventh inning.
Allen gave up no hits and struck out three.
The Scrappers totaled four hits. Barr and KC Serna also singled.
