Debt demonstrations planned in Youngstown and Warren

Senior citizens, families, residents and members of the faith-based community in the Mahoning Valley were planning to gather today to tell Congress they want the details ironed out around the debt ceiling.

The demonstrations were planned before word of a deal Sunday night. The events are being organized by the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative.

At 11:30 a.m., leaders were scheduled to gather on Central Square in downtown Youngstown and on Courthouse Square in downtown Warren with ironing boards to show legislators what needs to be done to secure essential retirement securities.

Specifically, the group will demand legislators iron out their differences and put the focus on the real issue of jobs, the MVOC said.
