Willow Creek students place at English Festival

Seventh and eighth-grade students from Willow Creek Learning Center recently participated in the Youngstown State University English Festival.

The 10 students, who comprise the entire seventh and eighth grade Willow Creek classes, won 14 awards with each student being recognized at least once.

Paul Ugolini placed first in the Not-So-Trivial Pursuit team competition. Last year, he also won the event. Lauren Ritz came in third.

In Writing Games, Kassady Murphy placed second and Samantha Fritz took fourth.

Five students received Honorable Mention in the Impromptu Writing Contest: Ryan Moore, Kassady Murphy, Lauren Ritz, James Haddad and Cooper Johnson.

In the prestigious Candace Gay Memorial Essay contest, James Haddad won fifth prize. Four students were finalists, receiving Honorable Mention: Anya Landis, Lauren Ritz, Gwen Sieman and Lisander Stebner.
