Canfield tennis coach Larry Davis enters his 34th season at the helm of the boys team knowing that in order to improve upon its All-American Conference co-championship (they shared the title with Poland) of a season ago, they must fill the No. 1 singles void created by the graduation of Ryan Sankovic.

Two juniors, Tony El-Hayek and Mark Dalvin have moved up a spot from last year after coming through for Davis in many important matches a season ago.

Two other seniors, Joe Crum and Mark Stanislaw, as well as sophomore Ryan Yankush and junior Jared Hofsess also battle for playing time.

Davis is also excited at the prospect of using three freshmen on the varsity unit.

Those freshman hopefuls include Will Brown, Nick Debiec and Ryan Kaleel.

While Canfield will battle Poland and Howland for the top slot in the All-American Conference Red Tier, Davis feels that one of the top AAC teams is White Tier entry Salem.

“Salem, for the first time in a long time, might just be everything that anyone in the league can handle,” Davis noted.
