Public asked for input on qualities needed in Warren schools chief

Staff report

WARREN

The public is invited to participate in two public sessions Thursday to help “in developing a profile of the ideal candidate” to serve as Warren’s next school superintendent.

The sessions will take place from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the school administration building, 105 High Street NE, and from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in the Warren G. Harding High School Cafetorium on Elm Road Northeast.

The input from parents, staff and the public will be used during the recruitment and evaluation phases of the search, which is being conducted by a representative from the Ohio School Boards Association, the school board said.

Kendall Lee, a search consultant for the OSBA, will attend the two sessions, as well as the school board meeting at noon that day.

Those attending the two public sessions are being asked to address the following questions:

What are the major issues, challenges and opportunities facing the district over the next three to five years?

What professional qualifications are essential for the next superintendent?

What personal characteristics are essential for the next superintendent?

All inquiries and requests for application materials and additional information should be directed to Kendall Lee at 614-540-4000.

The Warren Board of Education accepted the resignation of the previous superintendent, Kathryn Hellweg, in February.
