The Youngstown Youth Flag Football Association kicked off its fifth season last weekend with a full Sunday schedule at Boardman High School. During its previous four seasons, the league has featured close to 3,500 youth boys and girls in the tri-county area. The teams are divided into age groups and adopt team names of National Football League franchises.

Games are played Sundays with the first one starting at 12:30 and the last one at 6:30 p.m. The age groups include 5-6 year olds, 7-8, 9-11 and 12-14.

With the support of the NFL, the organization has adopted the Play 60 initiative that promotes one hour a day of physical activity for every child.

During Week 1 action, 53 teams took the field at Boardman High School. The teams were highly competitive and showcased a lot of talent and excitement, while showing sportsmanship.
