Crash kills North Side man Friday

YOUNGSTOWN

A crash that killed a 40-year-old North Side man on Marshall Street at 2 a.m. Friday is still under investigation.

Arnyl Benson, of Crandall Avenue, was alone and speeding westbound when the pickup truck he was driving left the street, ran through a fence, and plowed underneath a parked delivery truck at the Pepsi distribution center, said Sgt. Patricia Garcar, crash investigator.

Benson wasn’t wearing a seat belt and clearly exceeded the 25 mph speed limit, Garcar said, but his exact speed is still unknown. There were no witnesses, and nobody else was injured, Garcar said.

An autopsy was being performed Friday morning by Dr. Joseph Ohr, forensic pathologist and deputy Mahoning County coroner.
