The Rotary Club of Canfield offered the community a hearty breakfast during its annual pancake breakfast April 10 in the Canfield High School cafeteria. The club expected to serve 500-600 breakfasts, which also included eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee and orange juice.
According to Jim Strock, the club has been holding the breakfast for at least the past 40 years, and he has been in charge of it for at least half that time.
“We would like to thank all our sponsors, many of which have been with us for a very long time. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this breakfast are rolled back into the community through Rotarian efforts,” Strock said.
Local businesses who provided donations included DiRusso’s, Bob Evans, Mahoning County Farm Bureau/Jim Moore Farms, Ange Netta’s Bakery and Caf , Austintown Dairy, Chick-fil-A, Dean Dairy, Ellsworth Dairy Farm, Farmers National Bank, Canfield Giant Eagle, Jim Strock’s Trigg Marine Service, Marlowe’s Coffee, Nemenz IGA - Canfield, Olfield Graphics, REACH Magazine, Rhiel Supply, Rulli Brothers, Sam’s Club, Western Reserve Sparkle Market, Walmart and White House Fruit Farm.
Approximately 50 members of the Canfield High School Interact Club were also on hand to volunteer throughout the day at the breakfast. The students bussed tables, served patrons and sold raffle tickets for an Easter basket. The Rotary Club planned to split the proceeds from the raffle with the Interact Club, which they could donate to the cause of their choice.
Also available at the breakfast were raffle tickets for the Chevy Cruze the club is giving away. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from any Canfield Rotary Club member or from Hospice of the Valley and will be available at the club’s Fourth of July fireworks and the Fourth of July parade.
The Rotary Club of Canfield will sponsor its Fourth of July fireworks July 2 at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Additional sponsors and anyone interested can call Sam Boak at 330-793-5646 or Bill Hendricks at 330-717-2455.
