Boone, Tesh highlight series

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.

Westminster College’s Celebrity Series for 2011-12 season will include concerts by Debby Boone and John Tesh. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The season will kick off Sept. 24 with improvisational comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, stars of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

Boone will pay tribute to her late mother-in-law, Rosemary Clooney, on Oct. 20.

Tesh’s Big Band Christmas concert will be Dec. 16. The six-time Emmy winner will perform carols with a nostalgic big-band style.

The Texas Tenors, finalists on “America’s Got Talent,” will bring their classically-trained voices to the stage March 24. The trio will cover the musical spectrum from John Denver to Puccini.

Ricky Nelson Remembered will wrap up the season April 27. The show stars Nelson’s twin sons, Matthew and Gunnar, in a tribute to their father.

A special children’s show by The Golden Dragon Acrobats is scheduled for May 9, 2012. It is not part of the season subscription. Recognized as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company, the Golden Dragons combine acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music, and theatrical techniques.
