Neighbors | Submitted.Children at Austintown Community Church Preschool Childcare Center heard the story of Jesus and his disciples leading up to the Resurrection in the dramatic play area under the direction of Mary Ann Miller and Amy Teeters. The event kicked off the school’s Week of the Young Child celebration.

Austintown Community Church Preschool Childcare Center celebrated the Week of the Young Child April 10-18 with activities, crafts and song.

The week-long event started with the Blue, Noah’s Ark, Yellow and Green classes singing special songs during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Afterward, students and volunteers gathered in the auditorium and created snacks and a stained glass cross, enjoyed a story and experienced a dramatic play.

On April 12, speech and language screenings were conducted and throughout the week, Love Parents (grandparents) visited the classrooms and spent a morning experiencing a typical day at school.

The annual celebration is in its 40th year and sponsored by the National Association for Education of Young Children. Its purpose is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
