POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

April 18

Theft: Two nail guns, a drywall gun and a nail-gun set were stolen from a residence in the 2200 block of Bel Aire Lane for an $806 loss.

April 19

Assault: A man told police a family member assaulted him at the accuser’s South Hubbard Road home during an argument.

April 21

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 3100 block of Dobbins Road sustained $455 in damage.

April 23

Citation: Police near Clingan Road cited 39-year-old Mark S. Ferguson, 3015 Spitler Road, Poland, on a charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

April 25

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 7500 block of Cobblers Run Drive discovered damage to her siding and a portion of her yard.

BOARDMAN

April 21

Theft: A woman in her 20s stole $70 worth of cosmetics from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Theft: A $55 wig was removed from The Hair Depot, 4026 Market St.

Assault: A Struthers woman told officers a man assaulted her at his Forest Ridge Drive home.

Theft: An employee with a Market Street motel reported the theft of a computer and a DVD player.

Assault: A Salem woman suffered a cut lip and a possible tooth injury after reporting she had been struck in the mouth during an argument with another driver in a Boardman-Poland Road fast-food restaurant’s drive-through.

Harassment: A Hitchcock Road woman reported getting unwanted text messages.

Counterfeit: A fake $10 bill was passed at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Tina M. Fizet, 34, of 2307 Russell Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of an Xbox game and related accessories from Sears in the Southern Park Mall. Fizet also was wanted by Niles authorities on a robbery charge.

Menacing: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road bank reported a caller threatened to kill her.

Aggravated menacing: A Cleveland man at the Southern Park Mall reported another man displayed a gun.

Assault: A Glenwood Avenue woman told officers a man punched her in the neck and back several times.

Attempted auto theft: Someone in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road tried to steal a 2001 Mazda Prot g .

April 22

Theft: Eight batteries were stolen from heavy-equipment construction vehicles in the 6600 block of South Avenue. The theft was estimated at $2,400.

Identity theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road man learned someone had assumed his company’s address and name to conduct fraudulent business online.

Theft: An $1,800 hand-held saw was stolen off a truck in the 1100 block of Doral Drive.

Theft: A 17-year-old city girl was charged with stealing a pair of earrings and a necklace from Walmart.

Breaking and entering: Police found the front door to a vacant Lockwood Boulevard home had been forced open.

Drug paraphernalia: Officers charged 47-year-old Dennis L. Claroni of Harrisburg, Pa., with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle impaired after investigating a suspicious car in the 600 block of Boardman-Canfield Road. Paper with suspected marijuana residue was found, a report said.

Theft/criminal mischief: Thirty yard signs were stolen on Meadow Lane as well as Tara and Lemont drives, then deposited in the front lawn of a New Middletown school.

April 23

Theft: A Carter Circle woman noticed $40 missing from her wallet.

Theft: Brenda L. Ryhal, 30, of 3412 Belden Ave., Youngstown, was charged, accused of stealing from Walmart four Xbox games, three pairs of children’s shoes and other items.

Theft: A woman at work in the 700 block of Boardman-Canfield Road reported her wallet stolen.

Domestic violence: A 15-year-old township boy was charged with the crime after his mother alleged the teen had grabbed her feet, causing the accuser to fall and strike a set of steps.

Menacing: Two Ewing Road residents told police a neighbor shot at them with a BB gun.

April 24

Criminal mischief: Someone detonated a small explosive device on a driveway in the 700 block of Oakridge Drive.

Burglary: To a residence in the 4000 block of South Avenue through a rear window. Stolen was a 32-inch TV.

Criminal damaging: A woman in the 800 block of Moyer Avenue reported an acquaintance damaged a coffee table, destroyed clothing, poured bleach in her dresser drawers and paint in a pair of her shoes. Damage came to about $7,300.

April 25

Assault: Four people were in a fight at a West Western Reserve Road business.

Theft: A $1,300 cooling system, 15 car and truck batteries and other items were stolen from Parisi Excavating, 8095 Southern Blvd..

April 26

Drugs: A traffic stop on Glenwood Avenue led to 22-year-old Elijah G. Alexander’s arrest on a charge of drug abuse.

Alexander, of 1904 Cordova Ave., Youngstown, had a bag of suspected crack cocaine in his shoe, police said.
