Niles school board to interview 8 candidates for superintendent

The city board of education plans to interview eight candidates for superintendent of schools within the next 10 days.

The position became open when Superintendent Rocco Adduci announced his plans to retire effective July 31.

The only local candidates are Michael Notar, business operations director for Warren city schools, and Christopher Lewis, a principal and director of educational services for the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Youngstown.

The others are Andrew Kuthy, a principal in the Pymatuning Local School District; Thomas Gay, president and chief executive officer of The Quality Schools Group; Tony Meinerding, former superintendent of Holgate (Ohio) Local Schools; Gregory Pollock, Aurora schools business operations director; Mark Robinson, Ashland city schools superintendent; and Philip Wagner, Beachwood schools assistant superintendent.

The eight were selected from 26 applicants for the position. The number will be narrowed down further after the first round of interviews, according to a board news release.
