Bike safety program presented to Hubbard students

The right way: During a “Safety On Wheels” program presented by Hubbard Optimist Club on April 15 at St. Patrick School in Hubbard, from left, Lou Carsone, acting Hubbard City Police Chief, and Todd Coonce, Hubbard Township Police Chief, taught second-grade students proper hand signals to use while riding their bikes on roadways. During the bike safety program the students also learned that if a city or township police officer sees them wearing a helmet while riding a bike, they will receive a certificate for a free treat from Hubbard Dairy Queen. Following the bike safety program the Optimist Club gave each student a new bike helmet.
