POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

April 19

Arrests: Police apprehended 25-year-old Daniel Hartman of Stoneboro, Pa., and Antonio Hawthorne, 41, of Youngstown after a vehicular accident near Warner Road and state Route 82 and charged them with receiving stolen property and failure to comply with police. The two refused to stop, then led officers on a pursuit through several jurisdictions, a report said.

Attempted theft: A man left in a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck after trying to steal steaks from Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St.

Theft: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported several school signs stolen along the roadway.

April 21

Possible attempted fraud: A Christian Avenue woman reported getting a suspicious call from a telemarketer.

Attempted fraud: A North Main Street man told police he received a check from a lottery company in Spain claiming he had won millions of dollars.

April 22

Fraud: A Forest Hill Drive man found out his credit card had been used several times in the township without authorization.

April 24

Menacing: A South Main Street woman said a neighbor harassed and threatened her.

LIBERTY

April 15

Theft: A 9 mm semiautomatic firearm was missing from a residence in the 4600 block of Middle Drive.

April 19

Theft: Van D. Darling Jr., 43, of 919 Bonnie Brae Drive, Youngstown, was charged with leaving Pizza Hut, 2903 Belmont Ave., without paying his $14 food bill.

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 31-year-old David Tribble IV, 2046 Stewart Ave., Youngstown, to township authorities. Tribble was wanted on a township warrant.

Theft: Brian W. Geiger, 19, of 211 S. Portland Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of theft and criminal damaging after being accused of stealing trading cards from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. An agitated Geiger also kicked a wall at the store, damaging a portion of drywall, a report showed.

Theft: Two vehicle parts were stolen from Miller’s Towing Inc., 4100 Belmont Ave.

April 20

Recovered property: A $1,767 flat-screen TV stolen in a Niles burglary was found at a Motor Inn Drive motel.

Theft: A furnace, along with copper spools, sheet metal and parts, was stolen from Quality Heating & Air Conditioning, 1875 Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Harassment: A worker for a Church Hill-Hubbard Road doctor’s office said an intoxicated man made at least six unwanted calls.

Disrupting public services/theft: Someone cut 200 feet of cable line near Overbrook Drive, resulting in a loss of phone service for many nearby residents. In addition, cable wire was stolen.

Harassment: A Campbell man said a woman started sending unwanted text messages after a disturbance between the two in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue.

Menacing: A Tuttle Lane woman reported threats directed at her teenage son.

Theft: A woman told officers two people sold a dog belonging to her father, of West Montrose Street, without permission.

Theft: Edward S. Siefert, 68, of 4222 Smith-Stewart Road, Vienna, was charged in the theft of $79 worth of merchandise from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Theft: Police responding to an unwanted person at a Belmont Avenue business charged 46-year-old Tina D. Hymes, 339 Breaden St., Youngstown, with theft and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Stolen items from a nearby store were near an inebriated Hymes, who was found passed out in a chair at another business, authorities said.

April 21

Possible theft: A Youngstown woman reported her debit card lost or stolen at a Goldie Road store.

Harassment: A Green Acres Drive woman said her estranged husband has made 76 unwanted calls and sent 30 such text messages over a one-month period.

Theft: Someone stole 10 gas-meter doors from a fenced-in area at Tri-State Measurement, 1688 Shannon Road.

Drugs: Police pulled over a car on Gypsy Lane, then charged 27-year-old Jonathan D. Cook, 10731 Washingtonville Road, Canfield, with one felony count of heroin possession after saying he had a bag containing a substance that tested positive for the drug. Cook also was wanted on a felony parole-violation charge.

Arrest: Authorities picked up 28-year-old James M. Jarrell, 660 N. Four Mile Run Road, Austintown, who was wanted on a warrant from Liberty.

April 22

Burglary: To a home in the 900 block of Colonial Drive through a rear door. Among the items stolen were a radio and a laptop computer for a $783 loss.

Drugs: Buddy Sauceman, 28, of 945 Birch Hill Drive, Youngstown, was given a summons after being pulled over near Gypsy Lane. A bag of suspected narcotics was found, police said.

Theft: Maintenance personnel with Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave., discovered copper had been taken from a rooftop air-conditioning unit.

Theft: An $8 part to a cell-phone case was removed from Radio Shack in the Liberty Plaza.

Domestic violence: Glenn E. Stephens, 45, of 30 James Lane, Girard, was charged with the crime after Stephens’ girlfriend alleged he had used a bottle to break a window to a vehicle she was in, then threatened to kill her.

April 23

Drugs: A traffic stop on Roosevelt Drive led to two drug charges against Rachel E. Thomas, 30, of 707 N. St. Clair Ave., Girard. Thomas also was charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, when, police said, they recovered a spoon and hypodermic needle she had intentionally tossed from the vehicle.

Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen at a Goldie Road store.

April 24

Theft: Charges were pending against two 17-year-old Youngstown girls after $66 worth of cosmetics was stolen from Walmart.

GIRARD

April 19

Menacing: A Forsythe Avenue woman discovered threatening material on a friend’s Facebook page.

Theft: A Reeds Court woman reported her son’s $100 cell phone stolen.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of East Wilson Avenue was found with its rear windshield broken.

April 20

Aggravated menacing: A man made numerous threatening calls to an East Liberty Street business.

Theft: A Shelby Street woman reported the theft of a $500 computer.

Burglary: Occurred in the 30 block of Maple Avenue. A $1,000 laptop computer was missing.

April 21

Burglary: To an apartment in the 300 block of North Avenue, from which two 36-inch TVs were stolen.

Menacing: A girl walking on Davis Street reported two people in a vehicle made threats.

Theft: A man noticed $3,250 worth of property, including jewelry and coins, missing from his Hancock Street home.

April 22

Menacing: A Morris Avenue woman said a neighbor pointed a BB gun at her.

April 23

Possible theft: A package containing $520 worth of property was never delivered to a residence in the 200 block of Trumbull Avenue.

Arrest: Authorities charged 32-year-old Charles K. Kerby, 4853 Westchester Drive, Austintown, with child endangerment after accusing Kerby of taking a family member’s vehicle without permission during a dispute and, with several children inside, threatening to deliberately crash the car. Kerby also was wanted by Niles police on a felony domestic-violence charge.

April 24

Assault: Four people reported having been pushed and struck during an assault in the 400 block of Idaho Avenue.

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Family Dollar, 910 N. State St.
