Davis, Griffith named Horizon’s top athletes

INDIANAPOLIS

Youngstown State track and field athletes Michael Davis and Kaitlyn Griffith were named the Horizon League’s Athletes of the Week.

Both athletes had standout performances over the weekend at the Sparky Adams Invitational.

Davis competed in the 100-meter dash and won the 200 meters (22.20 seconds) at the Sparky Adams Invitational in Berea. He finished third out of 48 participants in the 100 meters (10.6 seconds), a mark that currently ranks him first in the Horizon and fourth on Youngstown State’s top 10 outdoor charts in that event.

Griffith also competed in the Sparky Adams Invitational. She won the hammer throw (53.48 meters) and took third-place in the discus (41.90). She currently has the League’s top mark in the hammer and is fourth in the discus.

Youngstown State is scheduled to compete on April 30, traveling to Ashland, to compete in the Ashland Alumni Open.

BASEBALL

YSU’s baseball game at Ohio on Tuesday was postponed by rain.

The game is rescheduled for May 4, at 6 p.m., in Athens.

Youngstown State travels to Milwaukee for a doubleheader on Friday.
