Wingfest will be hot (or mild)

YOUNGSTOWN

Covelli Centre will host Wingfest this summer, a new street festival that will take place the weekend of July 21-23.

In addition to a variety of chicken-wing vendors, the three-day event will include live music by national recording artists. Festival details, including the bands, haven’t been ironed out yet, said Kelsey Rupert, marketing manager for Covelli Centre.

Unlike past festivals at the arena, which were in the rear parking lot, Wingfest will take place in the street. East Front Street will be blocked off from South Avenue to the entrance to the Covelli parking lot. The stage will be set up in front of the arena’s main entrance and will face the street, said Rupert. Vendors will be set up on East Front Street. Activities will include a wing-eating contest.

Wingfest will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 21, and end at midnight Saturday, July 23. It will open at noon July 22 and 23.

More information will be announced in coming weeks at covellicentre.com. For information about booths or becoming a vendor, contact Jason Martin at jmartin@covellicentre.com or 330-746-5600, ext. 5124.
