Lucy Young announces the engagement and upcoming marriage of her daughter, Marie Young, both of Berlin Center, and Joseph M. Smaltz, son of Patricia (Smaltz) Thomas, both of Girard.

Miss Young is also the daughter of the late Urban “Bud” Young, and Mr. Smaltz is also the son of the late Robert P. Smaltz and stepson of the late Werner J. Thomas.

The bride-to-be is self-employed, and the prospective groom is a laborer for Voith Industrial Services at GM in Lordstown.

Invitations will be issued for the couple’s wedding, planned for 2:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at Our Lady of the Lakes St. James in North Jackson, and their reception, to be at the Mahoning Country Club in Girard.
