Inspector: Ohio VA failed at infection policies

A review by the U.S. Veterans Affairs inspector general says a VA hospital in Ohio failed to follow infection control policies and a dentist accused of not changing his gloves between patients there didn’t comply with proper procedures.
Monday’s report follows allegations the dentist at the Dayton hospital failed for years to change gloves and sterilize equipment. It says dental managers knew about infractions but didn’t respond appropriately. It recommends superiors address inadequate staffing issues and ensure policies are followed.
The hospital says it agrees with the findings and staff have set a June deadline to complete recommendations.
