Cocaine, laptop found in NM lake after plane crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Divers are back in the water of a northern New Mexico lake where they have recovered fragments of human remains, bundles of cocaine, clothing and a laptop after a small plane crashed into the lake.

State police spokesman Lt. Eric Garcia says authorities still aren’t sure how many people were aboard when the airplane went down Sunday in Heron Lake.

He says divers found membership cards but authorities are not releasing the names on those cards because they don’t know if the items belong to whoever was on the plane.

Garcia says wind and current have spread the debris, but 23 packages of cocaine have been found. He says he does not know how much the cocaine weighs.

Only small pieces of the plane have been recovered.
