AUCTIONS

Burghill-Vernon Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, state Route 7 at 88, Kinsman, will have a basket auction Sunday. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the drawing will be at 3. Admission is $3 and includes a beverage and cupcake. The kitchen will be open.

BOOK SALES

Friends of the Community Library of Shenango Valley will have a spring book sale at the library, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, Pa., from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. May 11; 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. May 12; and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 13 and 14. All proceeds are donated to the library.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, will have its 55th annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

CARD, BINGO PARTIES

St. Mark Orthodox Church, 3560 Logan Way, Youngstown, will be the site of a card party May 5, presented by the Ladies Altar Society. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. An entrance fee of $5, collected at the door, includes lunch and a beverage. There also will be a basket auction and an ethnic pastry sale. Men are encouraged to participate. St. Paul Church, 10143 Main St. (Route 170) New Middletown, will have its annual Spring Fling, sponsored by the Altar Guild, beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church hall. Admission is $5, and there will be refreshments, bingo, cards, door prizes and raffles.

Warren Republican Women’s Club will host a card party from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McMenamy’s, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. The cost is $8 and includes door prizes, table prizes and food. CRAFT SHOWS

Vendors are needed for the 24th Annual Arts & Crafts in the Park, to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25 at Centennial Park, East Pershing Street, Salem. Setup is at 7 a.m., rain or shine. A 20-by-20-foot space costs $25. Take your own tables and chairs, or they will be supplied for $35. Tents will be allowed, but no electricity is available. FASHIONS SHOWS

NIGHTS AT THE RACES

Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, will sponsor a gently used sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 6 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 Lunch and a bake sale will be available both days.

First Presbyterian Church, Columbiana, will have a trash and treasure sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Included will be books, housewares and furniture.

Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Youngstown, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5 and from 9 a.m. to noon May 6. Items include clothing, books, housewares, jewelry and games.

Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Road, North Lima, is planning its annual spring rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 5; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 6, which is half-price day; and 9 a.m. to noon May 7, which is $1-a-bag day. A bake sale will take place on May 5; lunch will be served on May 5 and 6.

Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 320 Elk St., Youngstown, will be having a rummage sale, fish fry, chicken dinner and bake sale beginning at 11 a.m. May 7. All dinners include two pieces, two sides and bread. Chicken is available baked, fried or barbecued, and costs $7 per dinner. Fish, fried or barbecued, is $9. Sides are green beans, baked beans, potato salad and macaroni salad. Extra sides can be added for 50 cents each. Pop is 50 cents, and baked goods cost 50 cents to $1. Springtime at the Gardens, an annual plant sale and vendors market, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 8 at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., Cortland. The event is for the Ohio State University Trumbull County Master Gardeners. Cost for table space under a large tent is $45, but vendors can set up their own canopy or tent for $25.
