Groups can pick up Memorial Day flags

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission will issue Memorial Day flags to designated veterans organizations next Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oakhill Ave. in the “B” Lobby. Other volunteers can call Barry E. Landgraver, executive director/county veterans service officer, at 330-740-2451 for more information.

Korean vets to meet

AUSTINTOWN

Korean War Veterans, Chapter 137, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at American Legion Post 301, 3652 Oakwood Ave., Austintown, to discuss plans for Memorial Day activities.

Veterans health fair Wednesday in Pa.

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Lawrence County Department of Veterans Affairs is offering a Veterans Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawrence County Government Centers Veterans Office, 430 Court St.

Health screenings include blood pressure, diabetes blood test, body mass index (BMI) and bone density. Also, VA enrollment, eligibility and program information will be available. Veterans are urged to bring their DD214 document.

Marine Corps Pfc. Tyrell D. Booker, son of Carletta J. Booker of New Castle, recently graduated from the Marine Aviation Supply Mechanized Course at Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One, Marine Aviation Support Training Support Group 21, Meridian, Miss.

Booker is a 2009 graduate of New Castle High School.
