Poets have opportunity to win a $1,000 prize

A grand prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the last poet standing in a contest being sponsored for poets of any age by Rainbow Fine Arts.

Those entering the contest will be competing for 50 prizes totaling more than $5,000.

Poems of no more than 21 lines on any subject and in any style will be judged by Dr. Jack Carroll, contest director.

Poets should include their name and address on the same page as their poem.

Entries may be submitted by mail to Free Poetry Contest, 7308 Heritage Drive, Mount Vernon, IN 47620, or at www.rainbowpoets.com, and must be received by May 10.

Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a list of the winners.

Tyra Banks to launch 3-book fantasy series

NEW YORK

Tyra Banks wants to spread some truth, and a little fantasy.

The talk-show host and former model has agreed to a three-book deal with Delacorte Press for a fantasy series for young people.

The series is about a girl trying to keep up with the beauty game at an elite school for supermodels, or Intoxibellas.

The first novel, “Modelland,” is due out in the summer.
