Reward to find Chance’ s abuser now $1,500
Two people have been arrested in the chemical burning of their dog, who is now in the custody of the Mercer County Humane Society. The humane society has named the 14-month-old hound mix Chance.
Chance was found wandering in Sharon, Pa., on April 10 with burns over more than 50 percent of his body. He also was emaciated and had three broken teeth.
Donor raises reward to convict dog abuser
HERMITAGE, Pa.
An anonymous donor gave $1,000 Saturday toward a reward for information that leads to a conviction in an animal-abuse case.
The reward now stands at $1,500 in the case of Chance, a young hound mix found wandering April 10 in Sharon, Pa., with burns over more than 50 percent of his body.
Chance is recovering at Hermitage Veterinary Clinic, where he undergoes frequent operations to remove dead skin. When he was found, he was also emaciated and had three broken teeth.
Someone in Sharon is going to adopt Chance, but he faces a long recovery period, said Mercer County humane agent Renee Dorogy.
Anyone wishing to donate for his vet care can mail a check to the Humane Society, PO Box 1046, Hermitage, Pa., 16148, or to the Hermitage Veterinary Clinic, 1500 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, Pa., 16148. Anyone with information can call the Humane Society at 724-981-5445.
