New Castle man assaulted in Youngstown


YOUNGSTOWN

A 40-year-old New Castle, Pa., man was struck in the head with a wrench by a burglar who broke into a home the victim was working on Friday at 433 Norwood Ave.

The victim said he had worked on the home earlier in the day and returned at 5 p.m. to find a man in a ski mask inside. The suspect charged at the victim with the wrench, striking him in the head and continued to strike him with the wrench and a closed fist.

The victim jumped through a dining-room window, breaking the glass, to escape the suspect.

The victim suffered a head wound and went to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was in stable condition.

Police determined that the suspect broke into the home by breaking out a basement window. A laptop computer was missing from the home.
