Fast-food rage

BOARDMAN

Police still are looking for the person who punched a woman in the face at a local fast-food restaurant.

A 24-year-old Salem woman told police she was in the drive-through lane of Wendy’s, 433 Boardman-Poland Road, around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday when the Malibu in front of her went in reverse, according to reports. The Salem woman honked her horn, and the female driver of the Malibu left the car, reached in through the Salem women’s partially open window and punched the woman two times in the face, cutting her lip and causing dental damage, reports stated.

The suspect then followed the Salem woman in her car, almost hitting her, before finally driving off toward South Avenue, police said.

Three girls seen vandalizing school

Three girls were seen breaking a window at the vacant Davis Elementary School on Wednesday. Austintown police were not able to find the girls once at the scene. The Austintown Board of Education boarded up the broken window.

Davis Elementary sits at 4302 Maple Ave. and has been vacant since 2008 with a surveillance system in place. Police patrol the site, which the district now uses for storage. The father of at least one of the girls involved went to the police station and offered to pay for the windows, Superintendent Vince Colaluca said, adding that community service usually is recommended for students in such situations.
