A woman who police found sleeping in a park with her two toddlers in the middle of the night remained in jail Thursday.
Struthers Municipal Court said Stephanie A. Krohn, 29, whose last known address was 34 Regent St. in Campbell, had not posted $800, the required 10 percent of her $8,000 bond.
She is charged with possession of drugs and drug instruments, endangering children and theft by deception, according to a police report.
She was in the Mahoning County jail. A preliminary hearing for her is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police found Krohn and her two sons, age 3 and 1, in a car in a parking lot at Mauthe Park around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say a resident reported seeing the car parked there. When police arrived, they found Krohn asleep in the front seat and the children asleep in car seats in the back.
The report says the boys had on wet clothes, and the car was full of clothes and trash.
All of the car doors were unlocked, police said.
Officers said they had trouble waking Krohn, and it was apparent to them that she was under the influence of a drug.
She told officers she had been staying at the Boardman Inn on Market Street for the past three weeks but was asked to leave and was driving around with her sons while she waited for her husband, a truck driver, to return from “an unknown Southern state.”
Police later discovered her husband was in Allentown, Pa.
Police also discovered Krohn had a warrant out of Struthers on a theft-by- deception charge. She was arrested. As she was led away, police noticed a crack pipe in the car ashtray, the report says. Police said they also found five pills.
The children were taken to a relative’s, and their father was notified.
