Voinovich advising researchers at 2 Ohio colleges

CLEVELAND (AP) — Retired Ohio U.S. Sen. George Voinovich is lending his knowledge and experience to higher education.

The 74-year-old longtime public servant has agreed to be a consultant and adviser on major research projects at both Ohio University and Cleveland State University.

Voinovich is a recipient of honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from the two schools.

Cleveland State President Ronald Berkman says in a statement that his university is “thrilled” to be working with a man who has helped shape the history of Cleveland and Ohio.

Republican Voinovich went from Cleveland mayor to Ohio governor to U.S. senator. He left the Senate when his second term ended last year.
