2 indicted in robbery attempt at Galaxy Seafood

YOUNGSTOWN

A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted two men connected with the attempted robbery of a North Side restaurant where a man was shot dead by an off-duty police officer.

Nathaniel Dumas, 35, of East Florida Avenue, and James Thomas, 49, of Belmont Avenue, were indicted Thursday on charges of aggravated murder, murder and aggravated robbery.

According to police, off-duty Youngstown Officer Michael Walker was working security at Galaxy Seafood, 1722 Belmont, and was in the back of the restaurant when Warren V. Wright, 32, of Youngstown, walked in around 6 p.m. April 8, pointed a gun at a worker at the front of the establishment, and demanded money.

Wright died after being shot in the chest by Walker.

Police said Dumas was the getaway driver, and Thomas also was involved in the attempted robbery. Police believe Dumas, Wright and Thomas planned the robbery.

Authorities said Dumas and Thomas are tied to Wright’s death, and that is why they are charged with aggravated murder and murder.

Both men are in county jail on high bonds.

Ernest Rayford, 28, Blackburn Street, Campbell, breaking and entering and aggravated robbery.

Devin Spann, 21, 7th Street, Campbell, carrying concealed weapons.

Gracie Rollins, 24, Zedaker Avenue, obstructing justice.

James McClendon, 31, Hunter Street, illegal possession of a weapon.

James Cooper, 49, Canfield-Niles Road, receiving stolen property.

David Bell, 27, Mahoning Avenue, breaking and entering, possessing criminal tools and vandalism.

Michael Ghiates, 26, Catalina Place, Hermitage, possession of cocaine.

Anthony Johnson, 29, Hilton Avenue and McGuffey Boulevard, possession of cocaine.

Will Howard, 30, East Glenaven Avenue, aggravated trafficking in marijuana.

Alan Williams, 22, East Boston Avenue, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.

Brandon Liggens, 31, East Boston Avenue, failure to comply, tampering with evidence, carrying concealed weapons and illegal possession of a weapon.

Kenneth Land, 49, Market Street, burglary and possessing criminal tools.

Deandre Johnson, 23, Outlook Avenue, possession of cocaine.

John Reid, 23, West Florida, failure to comply.

Charles Colpetro, 29, Brandywine Avenue and Ash Avenue, possession of drugs.

Tyron Perry, 19, Elbertus Avenue, aggravated robbery and obstructing official business.

William Robinson, 18, Elbertus Avenue, aggravated robbery and obstructing official business.

Henry Centofanti, 56, of Erie Street, theft.

Nader Niser, 32, Trumbull Avenue, Liberty, carrying concealed weapons.

Samuel Cianciola, 42, Green Glen Drive, Boardman, possession of cocaine.

Christopher Karis, 27, 8th Street, Struthers, grand theft.

Jamie Kohut, 30, St. Andrews Circle, Canfield, theft and grand theft.
