Youngstown man charged with OVI in Boardman

BOARDMAN — Police arrested Michael McKee, 32, of Youngstown for operating a vehicle while intoxicated Wednesday.

McKee’s blood-alcohol content was 0.150, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08. McKee was scheduled to appear in county court here this afternoon.

The officer who arrested McKee pulled him over after he drove his silver Honda through a Verizon Wireless parking lot and up onto a curb while trying to turn onto U.S. Route 224. McKee stopped just short of striking the officer’s cruiser when he drove through the grass and onto 224, according to police reports.

McKee told officers he had four beers and a margarita his friend offered him that “he couldn’t resist” before leaving a township restaurant. He told officers he drove over the curb because he thought the lot exit was there and had reached down to check his cellphone.
