Woman used baby's diapers to smuggle pills into Pa. jail

MEDIA, Pa. (AP) — A Philadelphia woman allegedly used a newborn baby’s diaper to smuggle drugs to her boyfriend in jail.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Jennifer Young failed to show up for a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges of drug possession and conspiracy in the incident earlier this month at the Delaware County prison.

Prison Superintendent John Reilly says officials received a tip about contraband entering the prison and monitored Reilly closely when she came to visit her boyfriend, Randy Sanchez.

Investigators tell the Delaware County Daily Times that Young put the baby on Sanchez’s lap and he pulled a rubber glove holding nine pills out of the diaper.

Young is scheduled for a May 12 arraignment. Sanchez remains in custody.
