Recycling drive
YOUNGSTOWN
Mahoning County residents wanting to get rid of household appliances can do so by bringing them to the Covelli Centre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Items accepted at the recycling drive are refrigerators, air conditions, dehumidifiers, microwaves, water coolers, stoves, freezers, water heaters and water softeners.

Wolford to speak

Eric Wolford, Youngstown State University head football coach, is guest speaker for the annual meeting May 11 of the Community Corporation, parent organization of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. The event, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, is sponsored by PNC Bank. Activities include election of officers and recognition of donors and volunteers. Doors open at 5 p.m. for an hors d’oeuvres buffet followed by the program at 6 p.m. Reservations are $20 per person and must be made in advance by contacting the United Way office at 330-746-8494.
Beating, robbery
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are looking for the two men responsible for beating and robbing a 41-year-old woman outside her South Side home.
According to police, the woman was returning to her Indianola Avenue home just before 10 p.m. Tuesday when she was met by two men she did not recognize. The men began punching the woman, knocking her to the ground and kicking her after she fell.
The men robbed the woman and threatened to shoot her, but she did not see a gun during the attack.
Police said the men took the woman’s car keys, house keys, $200, credit cards and jewelry before running off.
Man sentenced
WARREN
Dennis L. Dye, 57, of Nichols Road, Windham, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to two counts of gross sexual imposition and was sentenced to one year in prison. Court records say Dye was accused of having sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl in January 2010 in Newton Falls. Judge Andrew Logan presided over the case.
Special meeting
LIBERTY
There will be a special township trustees meeting at 10 a.m. today at the township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. The trustees may adjourn to an executive session to discuss personnel issues.
Funding workshop
NEW CASTLE, Pa
The office of U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire of McCandless, Pa., D-4th, is sponsoring a workshop at the Lawrence County Government Center, 430 Court St., from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday for officials with local governments and nonprofits seeking federal funding for economic and community development programs.
