Pa. man who drowned in hot tub identified

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities have identified the suburban Philadelphia man who drowned in a northeastern Pennsylvania hotel’s hot tub.

The man was identified today as 42-year-old John Saviello of Bridgeport, Montgomery County.

Investigators say Saviello drowned in a hot tub at the Clarion Hotel in Scranton early Wednesday. Lackwanna County Coroner Tim Rowland says drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the man’s death but it will take several weeks to get the results of a toxicology report.

Scranton Police Chief Dan Duffy told The Times-Tribune that an intoxicated, unresponsive woman was found in the same hot tub but was not hurt. The investigation continues.
