Pa. man charged in fatal March crash

BRODHEADSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man faces vehicular homicide charges in a crash police say was caused by the man speeding from one jurisdiction to another because he had a suspended license.

Benjamin Farrell, 26, was arraigned Wednesday before a Monroe County district judge in the March 3 crash that killed Theresa Ricciardi-Garcia.

State police say Farrell was passed by a police car that then pulled off the road. Farrell allegedly told police he wanted to put distance between himself and the stopped police car because his truck had an expired inspection and his license was suspended.

Investigators say Farrell illegally passed several vehicles before hitting Ricciardi-Garcia’s vehicle head-on, killing her.

Farrell is in jail on $100,000 bail.
