OSHP seizes 110 pounds of suspected marijuana after traffic stop


DAYTON — An Illinois man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 110 pounds of suspected marijuana, valued at nearly $250,000 during a traffic stop yesterday in Preble County.

According to a patrol release, troopers stopped a 2003 Ford Expedition for a marked lanes violation on Interstate 70 eastbound near11:03 a.m. Wednesday. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing dog alerted to the vehicle and a probable-cause search revealed the suspected drug.

The passenger, who claimed responsibility for the marijuana, Pedro Solis, 32, of Cicero, Ill., is charged with possession of marijuana, a second-degree felony and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.
