Man hits boy looking for his dog in chest with bat

WARREN

A 13-year-old southwest Warren boy was hit in the chest by a man wielding a baseball bat on Highland Avenue Monday night, he told police.

The boy said he was with his sisters, 12 and 15 years old, looking for the family’s dog at about 8:30 p.m. when a man he didn’t know about 20 to 25 years old swung the bat at him.

The boy fell to the ground after being struck, but he and his sisters returned home, where their mother took the boy to the hospital. There, he was treated in the emergency room, but police said they didn’t know the extent of his injuries.

Trumbull Memorial Hospital said the boy was no longer being treated in the emergency room as of Tuesday afternoon.
