Excavating company hits gas line

An excavating company working on a sewer project struck a gas line Monday afternoon, causing about 15 homes to be evacuated.

The gas line is on Struthers Road between Kennedy Road and U.S. Route 224. The homes evacuated were on Struthers Road. No one was injured.

The gas company was called, shut off the gas and repaired the line. Residents were able to return to their homes after about 11/2 hours, firefighters said.
