Sewing guild plans for spring event

CANFIELD

The Niles chapter of the American Sewing Guild is having its 9th annual Spring Extravaganza Style and Creativity Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. (Route 62).

In addition to the show, the challenge is to make a find from a thrift shop, garage sale or your closet into something you can wear. Be sure to take a “before” picture.

Attendees may also participate in the chapter’s Fabric Dash by taking a piece of fabric, labeled with yardage at least 1 yard, and fabric type. You will receive a ticket at the door for your fabric. No more than two pieces, please.

In celebration of the chapter’s 20th anniversary, there will be exhibits to browse through. The cost is $20 for members and $22 for nonmembers and includes a full lunch.
