McDonald’s Tayala, Dunlap earn MVPs at Miele Invite

McDonald senior Matthias Tayala earned field MVP and classmate Miles Dunlap was named the running MVP at Saturday’s Miele Invitational at Gilmour Academy.
Tayala, a Kent State recruit, won the discus (179 feet, 5 inches) and the shot put (50-8), while Miles won the 110-meter hurdles (16.2) and 300 hurdles (40.5) to help the Blue Devils finish sixth in the team standings.
Pat Kunkel was fifth in the 1600 and Kyle Joynes fourth in the 3200.
Bulldog Invitational
EAST PALESTINE
Senior Antonio Diaz Guy won the discus and finished second in the shot put to earn field MVP and lead East Palestine to a second-place finish in Saturday’s Bulldog Invitational at Reid Memorial Stadium.
Mike Salyers won the 110 hurdles and Jacob Dicello won the 100 and 200 for the Bulldogs, who had 94.5 points.
Junior Matt Peltiere won the 800 and 1600 and led Berkshire to victories in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays to earn running MVP for the the Badgers, who finished first with 142 points.
On the girls side, Leetonia senior Clarissa Perkins won the shot and discus to earn field MVP.
Berkshire sophomore Sara Patterson won the 1600, 3200 and 4x800 to earn running MVP and help the Badgers finish second to Cardinal.
