Health care

Beth Ann Howard, formerly of Poland, has been named chief financial manager at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne, Ind. She will be responsible for the financial operation of both the Fort Wayne and Marion campuses and provide oversight to management officials serving more than 30,500 inpatients and 2.7 million outpatient visits. Howard, a 1982 graduate and valedictorian of Springfield Local High School and 1986 honors graduate of Youngstown State University, will graduate this summer from Argosy University with a master’s degree in health-science management.

David A. Weimer was recently admitted as a partner at Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates, the Mahoning Valley’s largest orthopedic surgery practice. Dr. Weimer, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and hip replacements, becomes the ninth partner. Dr. Weimer, who is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is on staff at ValleyCare Health System’s Northside Medical Center, and St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and St. Elizabeth’s Boardman campus. He has a doctorate in medicine from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

The Ohio Pharmacists Association has announced that Kevin Fuschetto, R.Ph., Pharm.D., as the 2011 recipient of the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award. Fuschetto, from Canfield, is a pharmacist at Giant Eagle, works as a diabetes educator and organizes community health events such as flu and shingles clinics. He received the award at the OPA’s 133rd annual conference in Columbus.

MANUFACTURING

James Chaney of Hubbard recently received the designations of certified graduate builder and certified green professional. The designations are administered by the National Association of Home Builders Education and recognize Chaney as one of the industry’s top professionals. He works at HCH Construction Services Inc., Hermitage, Pa.
