High winds cause outages; advisory continues Sunday


High winds caused power outages to about 1,500 Ohio Edison customers in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Customers in Boardman, Youngstown, Warren and Cortland were without power during the late afternoon and early evening Saturday. Winds reached 40 mph in certain areas of the Mahoning Valley.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with winds expected to gust up to 50 mph.
