Chamber plans series of events

BURTON

The Village Park in the center of town will be the setting for “Saturdays in the Country,” a new event to be sponsored by Burton Chamber of Commerce.

The five specially themed Saturdays will be May 28, June 25, July 30, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Vendors can rent a 10-foot-by-10-foot space for $25 or can book all five weekends by May 20 for $100. Tents will be acceptable. No tables or electricity will be provided.

Earth Day cleanup scheduled at park

YOUNGSTOWN

Whispering Pines District of the Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, and Mill Creek MetroParks are sponsoring the 29th annual Mill Creek Metro Earth Day Cleanup on April 30.

Coordinators will pick up supplies by 9 a.m. before meeting with their groups at various locations, where they will work on cleanup until noon.

This year 27 locations throughout the park will be visited by 24 different Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Girl Scout troops and students from Youngstown State University.

Dinner-dance to mark 25th anniverary

Everlife Worship Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a dinner-dance from 6 to 10 p.m. May 14 at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 401 12th St., Campbell.

The attire for the event is semiformal.

Professor will read poetry at library

YOUNGSTOWN

William Greenway, an award-winning author of hundreds of poems and a Youngstown State University professor, will talk about writing poetry and will read some of his own poems at 11 a.m. April 23 at the Liberty Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library., 415 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

April is National Poetry Month. The library program is free, and no reservations are needed.

4-H club schedules event to raise funds

Kids, Kows ’N Kritters 4-H Club is planning a bake sale and petting zoo as a fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. May 1 at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds.

Also featured will be face painting, a balloon launch, games, a basket auction, music and more.

Prizes will be awarded for laps walked and to the club that raises the most money.

The club asks that every Columbiana County 4-H member ask friends and family members to donate a dollar or so to help keep 4-H in the county.

All proceeds will go to the Columbiana County Extension Office to be used to continue 4-H programs.
