Boardman boys track beats Massillon Jackson


The Boardman boys track team evened its 2011 record to 1-1 with an 88-49 victory over Massillon Jackson on April 5.

The Spartans put points on the board with senior Clayvon Finch’s win in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.9 seconds and junior Jordan Wolfe second-place finish in 18.4 seconds.

Boardman won the 4X200-meter relay with the team of freshman Ivan Adu-Poku, junior Devin Campbell, junior Michael Moxley and sophomore Nathan Jones in a time of 1:34.2.

In the 1600-meter run, senior Eddie Adu-Poku took first with a time of 4:42. The Spartans won the 4X100-meter relay with the team of Ivan Adu-Poku, Campbell, Jones and senior Nick Buonavolonta in a time of 44.6 seconds. Senior Trae Robinson won the 400-meter run with a time of 52.2 seconds, while senior Harry Wolfe placed third in 55.3 seconds.

In the 800, freshman Mark Hadley placed second in a time of 2:08 and senior Alex Scott took third with a time of 2:09. Campbell finished first in the 200 with a time of 22.9 and Jones finished second with a time of 23.2. Eddie Adu-Poku won the 3200 in 10:21 with freshman Justin Maroni taking third in 10:58.

In the field events, junior John Kuczek won the shot put with a throw of 49-11 Ω, senior Luis Salomon was second with a heave of 43-2 º.

Junior Brian Linsley placed first in the discus with a throw of 145-9 and junior Nick Lamb took third with a throw of 131-9. In the long jump, junior Allen Starkey took first with a jump of 19-3 º.

In the high jump, senior Leandre Jackson took first with a leap of 6 feet, with Starkey second at 5-10 and Robinson third at 5-8.
