Youngstown Gymnastics Center competitors vault into regionals

Five gymnasts from Boardman’s Youngstown Gymnastic Center team earned honors at the USGA Level Nine State Championship in Columbus and will now compete at the Cleveland Public Auditorium in the Regional Championship Friday through April 17.

Allie Anderson of Ursuline finished second all-around (35.55) with first-place finishes on the beam (9.2) and the floor (9.20). She also finished third in the vault (8.95).

Cardinal Mooney’s Jennifer Sklenar was sixth all-around (34.72) and had a third-place finish on the vault (9.17). She finished seventh on the bars (8.30), 11th on the beam (8.30) and ninth on the floor (8.70)

Hannah Estephan from Boardman Center Middle School was seventh all-around (34.75), taking third on the vault (9.02), sixth on the bars (8.5), seventh on the beam (8.55) and 10th on the floor (8.55)

Anna Warhol of Boardman Middle got a third place finish on the beam (9.30) and finished seventh on the bars (8.25) and beam (8.72) She also placed 10th on the vault (8.20).

Columbiana’s Jenae Shar captured first on the vault (9.17) and the beam (9.10), third in floor (8.5) and finished fourth all-around (34.80).

To compete at state, each gymnast was required to have a 34.0 all-around score during their regular season of competition.

In order to move on to regionals, each girl had to achieve a 34.0 all-around score. Region 5 consists of gymnasts from Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.
