CORTLAND

Josh Pryoer scattered four hits over seven innings to lead the Bulldogs (4-3) to victory in their All-American Conference White Tier opener. He struck out eight Leopards (3-3) and walked a pair. Kevin Arnold had a double and three RBIs for Lakview, and teammate Anthony Franco went 3-for-4 and drove in a run. Jared Wiesan had a double for Liberty.

Girard 12, Jefferson 2

JEFFERSON

Dante Delbene’s three hits included a double for the Indians (7-1). Winning pitcher Kyle Richey (2-0) struck out three batters and walked two. Richey and Brandon Hunkus hit triples while Ryan Trimbur, A.J. DeVore and Jim Melfi had doubles. Andy Santiago doubled for Jefferson (5-2).

McDonald 12, Wellsville 0

MCDONALD

The Blue Devil offense came alive to force the Tigers into submission after five innings. Will Robison, Michael Raschilla, Austin Bucan and Brandon O’Neill each had a pair of RBIs, and Robinson went 3-for-3 for McDonald (3-4). Jeff Walp (2-1) got the win, and helped his own cause with a pair of two-baggers. Alex Bison also had two doubles for the winners.

Canfield 8, Niles 2

STRUTHERS

Junior Ben Angelo had two hits and scored twice, senior Brock McGivern and junior Michael Wittmann both had two hits and two RBIs and Brad Smith had two hits and an RBI for Canfield (4-0, 1-0 AAC Red). Smith (1-0), a senior, allowed four hits, struck out four and gave up two unearned runs. Pat Barrett had two hits for Niles (7-2, 0-1 AAC Red).

Columbiana 15, East Palestine 3

EAST PALESTINE

Josh Saverko had a double and three RBIs and Luke Barker pitched a five-inning, three-hitter for Columbiana (7-3, 3-2 ITCL). Also for the Clippers, Jordan Hostetter had two hits and two RBIs, Hank Schlueter had a triple and two RBIs, Andrew Burdick had two hits and Bryce Miner doubled. Kyle Shaffer had all three hits for East Palestine (1-5, 1-3).

South Range 14, Western Reserve 4

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

South Range’s Andy Lacefield had a five-inning, five-hitter in a game ended by the 10-run rule. Tommy Delullo had three hits for South Range, while Mason Miller, Cory Deal and Ross Stoffer both had two hits for the Raiders (4-4, 1-3 ITCL). Miller and Stoffer accounted for three RBIs, while Delullo and Gerrad Rohan had a pair of RBIs for the winners. A. Smith had two hits for Western Reserve and P. Warren knocked in two runs for the Blue Devils.

United 5, Crestview 4

HANOVERTON

Jansen Sneltzer had 16 strikeouts and allowed only one walk over seven innings in a four-hitter in a game in which United took the lead on a suicide squeeze in the top of the seventh. United’s Garrett Beech had two hits, while Josh Miller and Ryan Powell doubled. Crestview’s Logan Schaefer struck out nine with one walk. Tom Marnejon had two doubles for the Rebels (4-4, 2-3 ITCL).

Mathews 6, Maplewood 5

VIENNA

Nate Homan and Tyler Hunt combined for just three strikeouts and four walks for Mathews. But the offense saved the day with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Zach Motts started things off with a free pass by Maplewood’s Dave Mureson and stole second base. Motts came around to score on a double by Zach Granelly —the only extra-base hit of the game. Homan then singled and stole second base. A Hunt single off the pitching rubber scored Granelly and Homan for the winning runs. Mureson struck out eight for the Rockets.

Warren JFK 10, Bristol 1

WARREN

Brendon Cox’s two hits included a double for the Eagles (3-0). James Coates and Vince Infante also had two hits.
