The Easter bunny hopped into town early to meet his biggest fans on April 7, as Boardman residents enjoyed an “Evening with the Easter Bunny” at Boardman Township Park’s Lariccia Community Center.

The facility was bedecked in spring-friendly pastel colors that guests enjoyed as they completed arts and crafts and a dinner provided by the park.

Craft stations had the kids decorating Easter bags, enjoying holiday stamps and stickers, and making a flowery frame for photographs.

Guests were free to slip in their photo with the Easter bunny, provided by a professional photographer, into their decorated photo frames.

Jalin Wilcox liked a few things about the event.

“I like that I got to wear out my new spring dress,” Wilcox said, before pausing.

A large smile spread across her face, and then she shared, “I’m really excited to meet the Easter bunny though.”

Holly Shabella admitted her daughter Alyssa’s attention went to something else first.

“She’s been eyeing the cake since we arrived,” she said with a laugh.

Alyssa enjoyed her slice of cake, along with a dinner provided by the park. The buffet included chicken, applesauce and plenty of rabbit food — a platter of celery, broccoli and lots of carrots.

Park activities director Karen McCallum said it was a joy planning the event for the community.

“It’s a wonderful chance for our families to hop into the Easter holiday and the spring season together,” she shared.
